National broadcasting commission suspends Channels television

The National Broadcasting Commission Popularly known as NBC, through the office of the Acting Director General, on Monday 26th of April, 2021, suspended Channels Television, for infraction of broadcasting code, with a fine of Five Million Naira (5,000,000).

The letter signed by the Acting Inspector General of The National Broadcasting Commission, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, to the the Managing Director of Channels Television, disclosed that Channels Television had a chart with the Media and Publicity Secretary of the Indigenous People of Biafra, on Sunday 25th of April, 2021, and the IPOB leader made secessionist inciting declaration on air, without proper caution from the Authorities of Channels Television.

The letter to Channels Television further reveled that Channels Television, On Sunday 25th of April, 2021, in the 7pm live broadcast, involving the Media and Publicity Secretary of the Indigenous People of Biafra, allowed free flow of untrue and misleading utterances about the Nigerian army.
