Ondo election tribunal dismisses Jegede petition against Akeredolu

The Ondo state Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure has dismissed the petition filed by the peoples democratic party candidate, Eyitayo Jegede against Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the all progressives congress.

This information was published by Channels Television with the headline "Tribunal Strikes Out PDP's Jegede Case Against Akeredolu"

Recall that Jegede had challenged the victory of APC and its candidate in the October 10, 2020, governorship election which saw the re-election of Governor Akeredolu for a second term in office.

According to the published report, Channel Television has it that, the chairman of the three-member panel, Justice Umar Abubakar, while delivering judgement in Akure struck out the petition of Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP because of want of jurisdiction.

My personal investigation also confirms that Justice Umar Abubakar, disclosed during her judgement that, the issue raised in the petition are related to internal affairs and management of a political party which the Tribunal has no jurisdiction on.
